Promote science and technology

SALEM: The promotion of science and technology education is important for the development of the economy of a country, Deputy Chairman of State Planning Commission M. Naganathan has said.

Participating at the valedictory function of the Scientific Tamil Exhibition organised jointly by the Ariviyal Tamil Mandram and Periyar University here on Tuesday, he called upon the students to take more interest in the science and technology subjects. The innovations in science had led to the development of economy of many countries. India had achieved tremendous progress with the help of science. Later, Mr. Naganathan distributed prizes to the winners of various events held as a part of the exhibition. Over 270 working models on various science concepts were displayed in the exhibition.The exhibition was inaugurated on October 26 by Bharathiyar University Vice-Chancellor C. Swaminathan.
